Moving at the Speed of Life

Life has been so busy here recently and I do not expect for it to slow down any time soon.  I feel like I have been meetingimg_6092 myself coming and going and literally making costume changes in between each activity on our schedule.  When you have a big family you have no choice but to be busy.

Friday was our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year…Jog-A-Thon.  My oldest son has looked forward to this fundraiser every year since he started school and and now my second son love’s it just as much.  This year the morning of my boys started razzing each other as to who would run more laps.  I love a little friendly competition and they did not disappoint.

Benja is in pre-k and he was up first. His track is smaller but he did14480631_10207618636568061_7131926556193108562_o manage to get in 12 laps.  I wish I had calculated the distance. He had a great time running and he did it with his Dad running right along side him.

Next up was Robbie.  Robbie is in 3rd grade and is a Jos-A-Thon veteran.  Of course I had to let him know Benja ran 12 laps. His first response was,”NO WAY!.”  Then he turned and said to me,”I think I can beat that.”  I did remind him his track was big14435177_10207618654328505_702553585775111450_oger and he just smiled.  Robbie completed 21 laps.  My husband calculated the distance it came to 2.31 miles!  My husband is runner and he could not believe that Robbie being 8 years old just ran 2.31 miles at a 6:29 pace.

I wasn’t just impressed with my son but all of the kids that participated in this fundraiser.  These kids showed up with a smile on their and excitement about what they were doing.  They did their best and it was so pleasing to see kids having fun and enjoying something they were doing while really putting in an effort to accomplish 14468515_10207618677929095_1232955687326699522_oa goal.  Every single one of those kids should be proud of themselves.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the boys…the love and support they get from friends and family is just so overwhelming.  If you wanted to donated and thought time was up you have until Friday (no pressure really!).  You can still donate here :

Support Robbie and Benja

Saturday morning Robbie, his Dad and his Papa went on a quick 14.3 mile cycling adventure.  I love that these three have been adventuring together and bonding over something they all enjoy.  All three of them have accomplished goals and all three of them push themselves to do image0000004better every single time they ride.  I am just proud of them.

A good friend of ours and one of Roberts running team mates has a party every year.  This year the theme was 1950’s.  We look forward to this annual party and let me tell you she throws a party that will not disappoint.

During the day before the party she invites her guests to take rides in a PT-19.  Yes you read that correctly.  Talk about ambiance and getting your img_6116guests ready for a fun evening.  Robert was scheduled for his flight so we took all of the kids to watch him.  It just so happened that on this day Tulsa Technology Center was having an open house there were so many fun things for the kids to do.

The kids got to explore an American Airlines passenger plane, and Army helicopter, vintage cars, luxury sports cars and they got to meet Brett Anthony, our local weather img_6145man who gave them a little show about tornadoes.

We finished up our day at Tulsa Technology Center and we were headed home to transform ourselves into the 1950’s.  I had ordered several dresses from different places online and not one of them worked out.  I had made a trip down to a local vintage store Cheap Thrills Vintage and I can honestly say I was impressed with their store.  There were so many outfits and dresses that I wanted to buy! I love to play dress up and image0000003getting ready for a night out, a wedding or a themed party is one of my most favorite things.

I have ritual when getting ready for something special or helping one of my daughters do their hair and makeup.  I pour my self glass of wine and turn on some John Mayer.  I don’t know why but that combination allows me to relax, be creative and not to fuss to much about my imperfections and insecurities (lord knows we all have plenty of those). Before completing whatever look I am trying to create I really do some research and watch plenty of tutorials.  I have learned different makeup techniques and hair tips and tricks.

Robert and I were dressed to impress and to the party we went! As we pull up to the party there was a 1950’s car sitting out front and we knew this img_6181evening would be fantastic.

There were champagne cocktails, root beer floats, fancy little burgers in fries in those nostalgic baskets, music to set the tone and lets not forget the dancers and musical entertainment.  The party was fantastic and img_6185we sure did dance the night away and enjoyed the company of some really great friends.  If you are need of good cater in the Tulsa area I would highly recommend Lady Fingers Catering and Party Planning.

The weekend is not over yet!  Nope!  We still have our oldest son’s first soccer game of the season. This season really did get off to a rocky start so we were certainly concerned that the team would struggle a little bit.  My husband is coaching again this season and his work schedule has not been an easy one to work with to say the least.  Never the less those played like a team that has played together for a while.  Despite an injury and being short on players to rotate in and out these pulled off a WIN!  I am so proud of them for their team work and the hard work in practice they have put in.  I am actually really excited for the rest of this soccer season…GO DAREDEVILS!!!

Life is so busy these days but I don’t think I would want any other way.  We are given life to love, live and have the greatest adventures and that is exactly how my family lives…one crazy adventure after the next at speed that seems to only get faster.
